THE DESIRE LINES
WALKING ORACLE

The Desire Lines Walking Oracle is a creative, intuitive tool for wayfinding through changeable times. This deck of cards and companion booklet offers a portable companion for reflection, intuition, conversation and care. With an emphasis on landscape and inclusion, the cards invite both solo and collective exploration, each card a lens onto the world as a place of divergent belonging. The project is currently in crowdfunding stage to produce a small first run of decks, any profits from which will go into making this valuable resource more widely available.

ABOUT

The Desire Lines Walking Oracle is a creative and intuitive tool for wayfinding created by Emily Meredith Wilkinson (www.emilymeredithwilkinson.com). The concept of 'desire lines' is not new, referring to those intuitive paths we follow: often faint tracks in the grass, or a new path made by those wishing to take a more organic route. This deck uses 'desire lines' as a guiding metaphor and an inspirational image to keep returning to.Emily's aim in creating these cards was to design a portable, multi-sensory companion which drew together strands of her own practice, research and learning into a simple and engaging format.
The themes of the cards and suites offer a language for navigating changeable times. They invite deep reflection and interweave new solutions with a philosophy of care. With an emphasis on landscape and inclusion, the cards offer a lens onto the world as a place of divergent belonging.
The deck is a kind of open book, encouraging you to craft and tell your own stories. Cards in the five main suites have both solo and collective interpretations, so you can adapt the deck for individual or group exploration. The companion booklet offers several exercises and activities, but feel free to make the deck your own. The cards are to be used in ways which resonate with your own practice and ways of moving, which may differ from walking. This valuable toolkit will also be available as a self-printable large format resource and A4 accessible PDF guide (coming soon!) which you can print at home, making the oracle accessible to a wide range of audiences and organisations. The oracle deck is linked to Desire Lines Podcast (desirelinespodcast.world), which you can find on a variety of streaming platforms.
